Shrink Wrap Kit 1 is an "a la carte" list of shrink wrap guns, shrink wrap tools, accessories, installation supplies and training information that you can choose from. This shrink wrap kit can be adapted to many shrink wrap projects.
Why shrink wrap kit "a la carte"? First of all, every project is not the same size or shape. Secondly, some items will be transported after shrink wrapping, while others will stay put. Additionally, when one shrink wrapper needs wide tape, the next one may need narrow tape. So, this way, you can see lots and lots of choices, and custom pick what best suits your project.
Shrink Wrap Kit 1 is for smaller boats and equipment. As such, Shrink Wrap Kit 1 offers 1/2" Cord Strapping (as opposed to heavier duty 3/4” strapping offered in Shrink Wrap Kit 2). Also, items such as shrink wrap tape offered below in Shrink Wrap Kit 1 are narrower rolls, which are generally best suited to smaller projects.
For first time shrink-wrappers, you will find there is a bit of an investment to make initially.
- However, you will save money and protect your assets better in the long run by using shrink wrap instead of inferior cover types (such as canvas or tarps).
- Compared to indoor storage, shrink wrap can really save you a lot of money.
Some of the more expensive items are the shrink wrap gun, which should last for many years, and the shrink wrap itself, which comes in long roll sizes ( we do offer some shorter rolls). A roll of shrink wrap can last several seasons (or wrap several boats or pieces of machinery), so your investment will pay off. Another option is to go in with a friend or two and do a team effort, helping each other wrap each others boats. Also, you may already have many of the ancillary items listed below, such as the fire extinguisher, safety glasses and propane tank. Other equipment you will need includes ladders to fit the job, a hand saw, a jack knife, a T-50 Stapler, and a 25’ tape measure.
Finally, one item that is not listed below is the shrink wrap film itself, as that needs to be selected based on the size boat or object you will be shrink-wrapping.
